Is there any point though? At 17"?

I would have thought that 1440P would be more than enough at that size!

this is the type of laptop my uncle wants. in relation and comparison to the HP Z series workstations, whats the price on this? will it be as good as the workstation, i know the GPU is better than a intel 530.

For gaming - I agree. Although I've yet to see a modern 17" laptop at greater than 1080p. (My ancient Dell is 1920x1200).

For software development, video editing, producivity etc higher res is good. Windows is beginning to get better now at scaling too so it should mean sharper text.

It seems silly that the small(ish) phone in my pocket can have a 4K display but not a big laptop!

Dingle is right, for editing and rendering it can be usefull. For Gaming there is then also the version with Gsync available that makes sure gaming experinece at 4K is superb.

@ Silent: Can you share a link of the station you exactly mean as there are tons of different models..

Not sure if I get it? I just see HP Z series workstation but there are different ones available... It would be really kind if you can share a link to make sure there is no misunderstanding.

Sorry, it's the newest one, the cheaper one£2300 worth an i7 cpu. Just interested in price for yours as it seems better specced. But I need one with a finger print reader on it
