4k benchmarks with very high settings (no ultra, AA ect)?

And it reminded me how when I had a 980Ti I would lower a few settings which made no visual impact for me and I was able to get a solid 60fps at 4k on every single game.

But since all benchmarks run everything at maximum at 4k it's difficult to get a proper understanding of how cards will run with a few settings changed (again that don't really have any visual impact).

To me the difference between very high & ultra wasn't massive and I could easily play on very high and still be amazed by the graphics but have the advantage of running 60fps instead of 30/40fps.

So would you guys with a 1070/1080/1080Ti running 4k be able to share some average fps results for modern AAA games? I think this will help a lot of people too.

Games which I'd like to see results from if possible - running 4k at very high settings with AA turned off:

Resident Evil 7
Elite Dangerous

i can tell you how i play Witcher 3 [1080ti]
3440x1440
all Ultra + AA + no Hairworks
average 85FPS Low of 71FPS highs of 100Fps
very high is about 15fps faster

Turn off some post processing effects like aa, sharpening, vignetting, blur, etc. leaving only bloom and light shafts enabled (game looks so much better), and set foliage visability to high and shadows to low (or medium doesn't really make a difference). And turn off the useless hairworks effects, while leaving the rest at ultra (set ambient occlusion to hbao+). Game looks amazing (better than with all post-processing effects enabled that only blurs details) and runs at about 110fps on my gtx 980ti at 1440p.

1) i dont have post processing on other than AA
2) Foliage makes a huge difference even very high to ultra. Very high = grass/texture popping is very noticable on a fast riding horse.

put in 420 hours into Witcher ;)

in the wild i get 100fps constant, but my fps was based on Novigrad very busy town = lower fps
 
I have yet to play at 4K, but every benchmark does insist on AA and all the bells and whistles enabled, at 4K im pretty sure you don't need 'ultra' or AA to make a game look beautiful, there is pretty much no difference between ultra and Very High in games anyway.
 
Was just playing Bioshock Infinite at 4k today using GTX 1080 (2ghz), max settings (i.e. ultra where available) with AA.

Locked at 60fps apart from where things loading or you are moving very quickly eg. using the jumps from hooks where you get a juddery mess. Possibly related to textures taking a bit of time to load.

Wouldn't surprise, if the FuryX, 980ti or 1070 can play pretty much everything at 60fps without AA on very high

The results in this thread honestly make me want to rethink my next GPU purchase. I was strongly considering buying a 1080Ti. But if I can achieve 60fps with a few adjustments again on the latest AAA games with something like a 1070 then maybe that is a wiser choice?

But then again Vega is coming before the end of June and AMD might have 1070/1080/1080Ti equivalents for cheaper prices so it's worth waiting til then.

Still interested in some more 4k/very high/no AA benchmarks though!
 
I tried cranking up the details on the Witcher 3 and Hairworks still brings my dual Titan X cards to their knees.

i am indeed. I'm basing this purely on 4k benchmarks on ultra, high or very high will gain you FPS and so will disabling AA, considering there isn't much in the way of difference between Very high and ultra in any game I own, with the increased resolution i think the FuryX 980ti and 1070 would be sufficient for 4k with slightly lowed settings and no AA. I would love some with access to a 4K panel and one (if not more) of those cards do some testing on some games that commonly used in benchmark sites, GTA5, Bioshock infinite, Gears 4, Battlefield 1, Tomb Raider etc

A 1070's great for 1080p and 1440p but, for 4k I'd want at least a 1080.

I never use AA at 1080p :)

60fps now means 30 fps in a year or so (personally wouldn't buy anything other than a GTX 1080 Ti for 4K at this point). GTX 1080 Ti should be fine for 2-3 years if you want to play on high settings on 4K (we'll probably start seeing high refreshrate panels soon other than the two that have been announced thus far).
 
I was considering a 1080 (non-ti) for 4k 60fps gaming, is that realistic enough for just high setting? The only game I have in mind is Destiny 2.

Not sure if the price difference between ti and non-ti is worth it.
 
Not got a lot of info right now but I'm playing through the new Prey at 4K maxed except for AA is at FXAA, getting 70-80FPS most of the time when I switched off V-Sync, it's locked at 60 99% of the time with V-Sync on with just a couple of places dropping it to about 50.

Anyone looking at 4K gaming needs a 1080 Ti if you can afford it, and I don't recommend SLI. Games always get more demanding and 4K is a killer, even this card can't do max settings at 4K in every game at 60FPS, if I was fine with 30FPS then it could, but i like my 60 too much.

I have some other numbers on games that I did recently after getting my 1080 Ti, I'll pop these in later.

Hey man, sorry for the big delay, didn't get a email about your post and been a bit busy.

Ok on Battlefront just where you stand looking into the trees at the start on the Survival on Endor mission Ultra settings with TAA I get 76, on High with FXAA I get 97.

Fallout 4 looking down into Diamond City as you enter I'm getting 62 on Ultra, 77 on High preset.

Doom on Ultra with SMAA and Nightmare shadows standing on the cliff after walking out the elevator after the title comes up about 100, about 115 on High.

I don't have access to all of my games at the moment as I've just changed cases and need an extra Sata cable with flat connectors both ends so I'm down a drive right now. Will do a few more soon.
