thanks for your reply's atm playing elder scrolls online and civ beyond earth, what card would run similar games at 4k settings
Thinking of the same now, 4k seems to be a way off atm would a 780 hof power a 1440p screen at max settings or would another 780 be called for?I think 1440p is currently the way to go, if you're looking for a new display.

I have decided to go for this option, thanks for all your helpSome games yes, more demanding games no (at maxed details). Treat yourself to a 1440p monitor and another 780 and you're set for a fairly good while
I run at 1600p with Tri-X 290's in Crossfire
I'm running 4k on all the demanding games just fine (metro, farcry4, battlefield4 etc), on one 980 overclocked, ok I'm getting 35-40 on farcry but that is still very playable until I add a second card later.
It wouldn't (unless you're talking 295x2). 4k is an extremely strenuous resolution to play at, you need a minimum of 2 of anything out presently to play anything more than a moderately demanding game.
Personally I think the most cost-effective route is getting another 780 if your system will take it (and be prepared to drop a few settings here and there as well)
You're not alone though, I'm going 40" 4k soon, system is already ******** itself![]()

I just got 31 fps on 4 EVGA SC 980s @4K running Dragons Age Inquisition.
When you post you really need to point out what settings you are using as I am sure they are not maxed.![]()
Your 512 bit gpu's are ready for 4K mate, fear not.![]()
