Hi all so I am currently running:

Intel i7 4790k @ 4.0GHz
650W PSU
Geforce GTX970
16GB Ram

Now funds are not very restricted I have enough for my new monitor which is the Acer Predator X34 G-Sync monitor so my question is:

Should I go for another 970 and run them in SLI for 4k or invest in the new 980ti and for both options will I need to replace my powersupply or will my current PSU handle both the SLI option and the 980ti?

Any advice is welcome and thanks for your time :)

650W should be fine for a single 980 Ti. I was seeing 550W with 2 x 970 in SLI but it's best to have some reserve and not run a PSU at it's limits.

I switched to a single 980 ti and it's so much less hassle to gets games running. The reduce heat and noise were bonuses as well.

I also have an X34 and it works well with a single 980 Ti. SLI and G-Sync don't always play well together.

That's good to hear especially from someone who has the X34 I'll probaby go with the TI then thanks for your help guys :)!!

Depends on what the 650w PSU is ? If its a bag of spanners then it might be an issue.
Also bit confused why you mention 4k when the X34 isnt 4k. Even with DSR the X34 is not an ideal candidate for upscaling to 4k via the NVidia Control panel.
usually people choose either a 4k monitor or Ultra Wide. Not an UW then run 4k on it.

Ah I see I've read my specs wrong then, that will be the monitor im running with as i've pretty much sold it to myself despite it not being 4k haha with that being said...

will the upgrade to the 980ti still be necessary for maintaining 60fps gaming?

Also my PSU is the Corsair RM 650W '80+ Gold'
