I have just switched to a 48C1 and I’m considering changing my 3080 to a 6900XT, I know the 6900XT is a better card at 4k, but is it that much better? I’m guessing it won’t cost me much to upgrade as my 3080 is a FHR card so probably worth a bit more than the LHR cards. But is it worth the hassle?
 
Well, I think that it is a more powerful card, but weaker ray tracing performance if that bothers you. A 3080 will do 4k 60hz for nearly everything, but depending on your use case you may appreciate more.

Having not used a 6900xt, I'd suggest it seems like a 6900xt is probably a step up from a 3080, but not a game changing one unless you are having specific issues. If I was in your shoes I would probably be hanging on to the 3080, but is it an upgrade you're after, or is it just a "new shiny"?

Can't go wrong with either card, mind!

Nope & for 4K DLSS is way more important than the 6900XT's extra grunt. You can definitely change the 3080 FHR to a 3080 Ti tho.
 
Looking at those games, then i would suggest an Nv gpu - the total war series loves them and so does alien game (from the 1 review i found); wot and wows are botgh frame rate locked i think?

Do the games noticeable stutter or look like they are struggling?

No non of my games stutter or feel like they are struggling,I use the mods on wows and wot to unlock the frame rates
