After upgrading to a 4k TV and downloading more content my current setup is struggling. I use my Surface Pro 4 mostly, anything more than a 12gb film struggles to stream without buffering. It's a little better if I use my Ethernet PC, probably due to cutting down on a Wi-Fi connection.
Currently using a Virgin SH2 @5ghz. What router would be best and the use of Wake-on-lan would also be a welcome function for once.

It's not necessarily the router.

What's the bitrate of a file that doesn't work? Use something like http://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo and look for "Bit rate" under Video.

Is the wired PC route wired the whole way, or is it WiFi to the TV?

Do the files look OK on the Surface?

What are you using to stream?

Thanks for the reply, to stream I'm just using Microsoft "Cast to device", they look and play fine on the Surface, and the PC is only wired to the router. Not sure of the bit rate I'll have to find another video it struggles with. I have noticed in task manager network activity is quite high around 18mbps.
