Well with the new xbox S and the 4k stuff coming out I'm thinking about getting a monitor for this. Sadly my room is too small and it hurts my eyes being so close to a 40"+ TV screen so I'm thinking about getting a monitor. I'm not being an idiot but I won't lose any quality doing it this way will I? I guess my budget is anything under £500 really.

Thanks

If the console pulls out frames at 1080p (if not less) that's what the monitor will show so 4k monitor + console = no go!

As for the quality of the 1080p frames, it really depends on the scaler, so it may differ from monitor to monitor but for sure they won't be better than on on a proper 1080p screen.

Xbox Scorpio 2
Everything you need to know about Project Scorpio – and how it differs from Microsoft's 4K and HDR-ready Xbox One S console, which now has a release date.

Microsoft upended the concept of the traditional games consoles, announcing Xbox Scorpio at E3. Consisting of powerful hardware and 'seamless' software, the Scorpio marks a new beginning for how Microsoft markets its gaming products.

Don't confuse it with the Xbox One S – a smaller upgrade which is available now.

XBOX SCORPIO RELEASE DATE: WHEN CAN YOU BUY ONE?

Not for a long time. The Project Scorpio console will (probably) be available in the holiday season of 2017, so your about 14 months away mate.

the console would be capable of playing games in 4K resolutions at 60Hz

so yeah a monitor capable of doing this will be well in budget especially in 14 months time, as the prices drop all the time. I would wait a few months closer to launch mate is i was you.
