4k Monitor in 1440p ?

Hi guys if you buy a very good 27" 4k monitor with around 144hz and wanted to play some games in 1440p would it look the same as a native 1440p or worse ?

It would look worse as the picture will look 'soft' compared to a native 1440p screen. In many cases in games it wouldn't be too noticeable though tbh but I think text would be most affected.

Not much of good 4K monitors available...
LG's 27GN950 would be one of fewm but good luck for finding one from stock.

Who knows if LG really keeps making many of them with updated model 27GP950 announced.

Good scaling with sharpening can prevent most softening compared to native resolution.
And could use also some in between resolution to have more starting data for scaling.
