4k monitor question

Hi I have a few questions about 4K, was wondering if someone could answer them.

I am dual screening with 2x 1080p 24" iiyama monitors.

1) Will a 24" 4K monitor be a wasted expenditure due to the fact that the screen isn't that big to make use of the extra pixels?

2) I'm on a budget so I dont want to replace both screens at the same time. Can I dual screen different resolution monitors so 1x 24" 1080p and 1x 24" 4K while seamlessly dual screening (same size windows start bar, same size windows etc.)

3) Will 4K prices come down soon in the future or will the remain at the £350 price tag for 24"?

1. Maybe; I use a 40" 4k monitor and it's just about the right size ;)
at 24" I don't think I'd want to go much higher than 1440p.

2. Yes you can, you'd have to zoom the 4k monitor to 200% but windows 8 & 10 can do this on a monitor by monitor basis.

3. Probably, but it will depend on it's acceptance as a format.

Hi I have a few questions about 4K

1) No that is not the case. You can easily tell the difference between a 4K 24" sitting next to the 1080p 24" screen. Extra pixels will only make it more crisp. Really depends how far you will be sitting.

2) You can do that. Use correct scaling for the 4K screen and you should be fine.

3) 4K prices are already below 300£. May be you need to shop around a bit :) But ensure that you are picking up a 60hz panel.

Here at OcUK, this is the cheapest you can pick.

I have used this monitor and if you don't mind the looks then it is a very good panel. 4K IPS@60hz.

4K is much nicer for text, assuming the application supports high DPI. I run 2x 1200p Dells and a 4K Samsung without issues, and am considering switching the 1200ps to 4K for that very reason.

yeah I bet times new roman looks decent on 4K. It always looked dog****e on screen.

Having said that, I think there is a early adopter tax on 4K. I know just like SSDs they are going to drop in price. I paid £150 for a 128GB crucial m4. The same money could buy me a 500GB one today. a 4K is non-essential, I'll buy one when they reach the £200 mark.

I'#m dual screening and I know being a perfectionist I will just fork out another £350 to match the screens if I buy one now.
