4k monitor scaling issues

I just got my 4k Asus PB287Q monitor last night and there are some issues of losing the cursor with it being so small and in general a lot of things being small. I've since then found out you can scale the icons up in windows display and the cursor size but does anyone else have any other tips and tricks for handling 4k resolution on a relatively small monitor? (28")

edit: just found out that windows 8.1 has 200% scaling compared to windows 7 150% DPI scaling. It also has the ability to have DPI scaling on a monitor basis so if you're running a 4k monitor next to 1080 monitor it won't look terrible on the 1080.

It's just a case of a lot of applications aren't yet set up to take advantage of that sort of scaling, so you'll have a mix of nice and crisp and fuzzy stuff on screen.

It's getting there. Adobe has been introducing 200% scaling in to their apps such as Photoshop recently, so hopefully more and more will be going down that route sooner rather than later.

I was actually surprised how well my old GTX 670 and i7 920 were able to run a couple games at on 4k. It was able to run Diablo 3 with medium graphic settings I think at 60FPS and league of legends at 200 FPS or so. When I get my new x99 and 900 series parts it should run games no problem.
