I'm looking at two monitors, a Samsung 34" UW, 3440X1440 and a Samsung 34" 4k .

I've been using an LG 28" UW for a few years but having upgraded to a new PC decide it's time for a monitor upgrade!!

I play mainly MMO (WoW), RTS, Diablo 3, bit of Dota 2, some strategy games. Seldom bits of FPS but very rare.

So yeah, so 4K or UW?

Since I both work and play on my monitor I prefer the UW.

Your gfx card will also need to be a factor I guess, as it'll determine what frame rates to expect!

Well 4k is more demanding on the GPU in terms of FPS given that UW is pushing 4,953,600 pixels whilst 4K is pushing 8,294,400 pixels but the games you mention aren't the most taxing. I got a UW a few months back and personally I would prefer to stick with that than go back to a 16:9 4K but I think it's really down to personal preference and the intended use case.

Gfx is more than capable.

I really think that I'd loathe losing Ultrawide tbh.

For the games I play (similar to yourself) I enjoy the ultrawide but FPS games can be a little tricky for spotting other players towards each edge (as your eyes have further to go)

For PC use i like ultra wide

But a 4k 16:9 monitor would be much better suited if you also going use a console on it as consoles do not support ultra wide 3440x1440
