Debating what monitor to purchase next to go with my Macbook Pro. I need something that obviously works with my Macbook and a PS4, but im not sure if I should go ultra wide or 4k. Any thoughts? FYI, I do not do any professional colour work etc, but I use a lot of CAD/FEA programs so the extra screen space is useful to me.

Thanks!

(Currently own a DGM 27" 1440p display)

How do you feel with regards to your current screen and the space it provides?

34" ultrawide is similar to your DGM but offers an extra 440 pixels on both sides. A 4K screen will give you more space to work with though.

I love the ultrawide aspect ratio, use half the screen for browsing, the other for video. sometimes all four quadrants have different things going on at once. It doesn't feel overly big - yes it is wide but it doesn't look as out of place when compared to my previous BenQ 32" 16:9 display.

I think you need to go see a 21:9 screen and use one if possible, then you can judge for yourself whether it is something that you are comfortable with.

I can certainly recommend the 21:9 aspect ratio. I cannot go back to 16:9 no matter the amount of pixels it offers now. I want the immersiveness.
