So last night I was playing around with DSR on my 1080p monitor setting it to 4k going back into game to find text had gone so small it was unreadable.
My questions
1. does this happen on a real 4k monitor do text boxes and ammo counters etc become so small?
2.what happens if you set a resolution of 1080p on a 4k monitor does it scale back to what I see now on my 1080p or will I still be hit with tiny text

Dont forget if you have Windows 10 or even 8 for that matter just set text to 150% or whatever is comfortable and no more small text.
On 4k I had it set to 150% I think and on 1440p I have it set to 125%. Big enough for me to see and I have no issues at all with using this setting.
You dont have to have small text with 4k.

does this setting apply in games too if you were running 4k res in game

No. Many games offer some sort of HUD scaling. But be aware that unlike running Full HD with DSR, the elements in native '4K' UHD are very sharp and still readable. They are the same size as you see when emulating '4K', but they are much clearer as well.

oh i see, looking at benchmarks and stuff with current graphics i don't think i should go with 4k until we get much more powerful cards.

i'm currently using 24 inch 1080p if i went for a 1440p monitor should i go same size or move up to 27 inch?

viewing distance for me is 2 to 3 feet
