Hi all,

I have a 70 inch KU6000 and Plex media running on my PC (specs below). TV also is using a Denon 2300 amp with Q7000i speaker setup. I have some 4K movies on my PC and was wondering whether 4K streaming will work via plex. Both are ether net wired over Gigabit so hopefully network shouldn't be an issue

Has anyone had any experience using Plex 4K to a TV?

Thanks

Thanks for the replies all

I am trying to play The Hateful Eight at the moment, however I get a "There was a problem playing this item" error on this

For now this is the only 4K movie I have

It will not play on the TV or my PC

Any ideas?

On recent handbrake 1.0+ builds, it has template options for 1080p android.
I've encoded using the preset and my TV plex client direct plays the file, rather than forcing my anaemic HP Microserver N40L trying to transcode (which fails with a similar error to yours).

I have no idea if it will work, but couldn't you use settings similar to the 1080p@30 android preset and then change the res up to 4k?

I realise a newer codec would be more efficient, but I believe lack of support for the codec on the client is what is causing the playback issues.

Thanks

I got it working however

I did not have enough space on the SSD for the transcoding so I switched transcoding drive to my HDD and now it is working perfectly on both the KU6000 70 inch

However we also have an ethernet wired 40 inch KU6000 in the kitchen but it comes up with the same error still

:(

Arc doesn't support those audio types? :S that is going to be a problem. Might have to change to optical

What??? So there is no way to get audio from TV via plex, Amazon prime, Netflix or whatever to the amp whilst keeping DTS/Dolby?

Sounds good. Is the B6 a TV I'm guessing?

So I get DTS but not DTS HD via ARC and Optical?

That's pretty much my only option, as I have no way to stream Plex 4K straight to the amp so I get the best audio possible. Should be good enough though

Cheers for all the help guys
Now I have another annoying problem
Plex says the audio type is DTS 5.1, however the TV won't highlight the option for DTS on the TV settings, only Dolby digital, pcm and DTS neo 2.5. Proper DTS his grayed out as an option

Am I right in thinking this is a Plex issue where the TV won't support DTS?

Found the problem, thanks for the reply nick

Had to go into Plex settings and then enable DTS, then enable DTS in TV menu. Apparently its a known issue with Samsung not automatically switching to DTS with Plex and supposedly a fix is being worked on
