Tempted to move from a ROG SWift to 4K gsync

How does your Rig handle 4K?
going back would like a bigger screen size?

Im tempted my by the Acer 4K 28" but think it might be small for 4K.

Rig
5930K
32GB
2x 980s

i know the 980s might struggle but, currently just playing WoW & BF4, bit of Witcher 3. will be upgrading to Pascal. :)

I love 4k wish i had a gsyn monitor thoguh but had 290x crossfire at the time.

I play most games on relativly max settings

I have a 27" 1440p (60hz) desktop monitor and a 58" 4k (60hz) Panasonic TV.

To "max out" newer games at 2160p (ultra graphics settings, not max AA) I usually need both my Titan X's in SLI.

When a game doesn't support SLI (such as Fallout 4) I use my 1440p monitor.

I might look to get a 4k Gsync monitor in future, but personally feel 28" is too small for 4k.

I'm waiting for a decent 32" Gsync 4k IPS monitor. Acer have one on the horizon (XB321HK) and I'm sure there will be lots available next year. We'll no doubt see lots announced at CES in January.

That's my personal take on it.

This is the best 4K monitor. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/phil...z-widescreen-led-monitor-black-mo-022-ph.html

Your 980 SLI should be enough for now just about. A single GTX 980 Ti is not really enough in some games @ 4K you need to drop TXAA especially @ 4K.

I would buy a decent 4K monitor like the Phillips then wait for newer GPU's in about a year which are more 4K friendly.

Just use Nvidia inspector and add an SLI profile for it? works fine.

I LOVE playing games at 4K even with 28" the detail is just amazing and makes games just look insane (new AND old).

But i did have 2x 970s / 2x 980s and they couldn't cope (VRAM) so ended up buying 2x Titan-X's which cope very well :D

Don't expect a world of difference going from 1440P to 4K.

Most of the time you'll be hard pressed to notice the difference from 1440P to 4K but 1 thing is definitely noticeable, The performance impact.

I have a 4K and 1440P monitor and I only do my gaming on the 1440P monitor as I honestly can't see that much of a difference between the 2.

Wouldn't game on 4k without G-Sync and certainly not with SLI 980

Should have gone to spec savers, there's a massive difference, just gone from 4k back down to 1440p to go Ultrawide and there's a big different in image quality, don't let any tell you otherwise.

Imo saying all that though 27/28" is to small for 4k, roll on a nice 32" or Ultrawide 4k panel.

I have 20/20 vision so I'm good thanks but 1440P and 4K both of my monitors are at 27" and aren't exactly worlds apart, Maybe at bigger screensizes but as both my screens are 27" the differences are tiny, For me personally the difference 4K brings isn't worth the performance hit.

Your loss that tech is not here right now.

60FPS is possible on current hardware @ 4K. All down to personal tastes/budgets I would not consider a 4K monitor unless it was 40" minimum pointless upgrade otherwise these 27/28" displays @ 4K are not for me but when you see 4K @ 40" its another level ;)

4K G-Sync is here, Acer has a 28" 4K G-Sync panel :)

Although I personally wouldn't get 4K again unless it was a minimum of 32" as any lower and the effects of 4K aren't much better than 1440P at 27".

yes it is lol

A 27" is not too small for 4k! Admittedly i sit very close to my monitor but easily see the difference between 1440p and 4k. As for GPUs my old 7970 Matrix PE used to game fine with older titles in 4k and newer ones with fewer 'ultra' settings enabled.

I have both a 27" 1440P and 27" 4K next to eachother, The difference in games really isn't that much unless you're a pixel counter :p

32" screen @2160p makes life a lot easier when reading stuff on the internet like this forum.

I hate having to use resizing text on smaller screens and phones.

28inch is the bare minimum for 4k imho, and I sit rather close to my screen. You can definitely notice the difference between 1440 and 4k, I've gone from my 4k to the Acer XR34 and I notice the drop in pixels. For what it's worth, I'd say either go 28 and below 1440 or go for a >32 4k - but having a sync tech is a requirement both ways imho :P
