I picked up a 4k monitor in the b-grade offer. The plan was to use it on my second PC just to watch videos mainly youtube. I assuemed that youtube would use the GPU, but it looks like the video is being handled by the CPU. i have an old core2quad with RX550, at 1080p fine, but anything higher than this and the CPU shoots up to 100% and the FPS is un watchable. I have tried with an R9 290 but the same. So is Youtube CPU bound? and waht would be the minimum required to get 4k to play smoothly

Could be that AMD doesn't include dedicated hardware for 4K in their chips, either this or somehow the driver team decided not to use the hardware acceleration on its products.
