Hi all,

Got myself a lovely 4k TV recently and I want to upgrade my 10 year old setup to cope with uhd playback.

I did enjoy looking back through my emails to find my original OC order, so I could list my current setup.

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2 (OCZ2G8004GK)
Asus P5K Pro Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
GeForce 8800 GTS OC 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK)

The GPU has been replaced with a 460 GTX.

My question is can I pick up a second hand graphics card, I believe anything from 960 GtX onwards should be able to process h.264/5 uhd content? or have I read that wrong?

or is the whole system in need of a rebuild, would anyone like to spec me what I would need?

Many thanks
Ryan

hi thanks for reply, size of case isn't an issue at the moment as its hidden away in storage, but yes tv is in living room.
No gaming done on machine.
Never knew about Core 2 duo problems, after a little research it's hit and miss if the q6600 faces the same problem. Currently running w7 but might need w10 for HDR support I think .. .
