Could my system handle 4k gaming at this current spec in my sig? Just curious as this monitor is only 1080

Will eventually get a new 4k monitor and a nvidia card probably a 980 when they're cheaper

I would go for 1440p with a 980, it looks very nice and is quite easy to run with a 980

Some games can easily do 4K even with a 7950, e.g. DotA 2, etc.

Problem is, if you want new games to do 4K (maxed @ 60fps), you basically have to drop £1000 every 2 years or so for 4K. If you don't want to be in that situation, then forget it. Imo 1080p @ 144hz is much more enjoyable for general gaming anyway.

UHD, not 4K! Your PC will handle games at UHD fine depending on the game. A 280x is more than enough to play quite a few games at 3840x2160 (UHD).

If by fine you mean, reduce the settings & only for a short while, then you're right.

True, you won't be playing at ultra quality on the newest games but the higher ppi of 4K / UHD monitors means there's less need for AA so it balances out.
