4od

Same as Meatball, anyone got a link to a direct download?

And what ever happened with bbc's iMP trial? Did anything come of it?

Vista is preinstalled with a version of the .net framework which the 4OD developers are too lazy to patch for :(

No workaround as far as im aware.

Blame C4 though, could easily be fixed simply by removing the check from the installer.

Through VM there isnt any difference - TBH I think all of VM On Demand stuff is ace - All of father ted any time you want!

I use 4OD Via VM a lot, it's a bonus there's no quality loss

I downloaded it last night to see what was available, and it's awful. I hate that it won't even download in firefox, even if you have IE installed :(. It's expensive too, compared to dvds. I checked Desperate Housewives, and for a 26 episode series it's 99p per episode to rent (so £26), or £18 to buy the dvds and have them forever.

Do you still have to pay for on demand on VM?

Burnsy

Most content is free if you are on the higher package (XL TV), or for the next couple of months on M and L due to the loss of Sky 1 etc, after that some will content will be subscription (IIRC 5 p/m for M and L TV packs), or per view in some cases.

That is most of VOD on Virgin in general, i'm not sure how 4od will work for it's back catalogue (they, like the BBC will no doubt keep selected new content available free for a week or two after broadcast).

Similar thing - is anyone using Joost?

There's not loads of content on there atm but it seems to work well. Quality is good and because it's only a beta it should get better. Plus it works on Macs.

;) I would mate but I haven't been given any invites for some reason. Although I wasn't invited; I just signed up on the site.

I was just about to make a similar lowly attempt, then checked my email just to be sure...

"The waiting's over! Since we received your application to join the Joost
beta test program, we've been very busy fine-tuning it for you.

So here's some good news: we're now ready to expand our beta test
program, and we're delighted to invite you to join us." :D

you are right but I missed a episode (the supermarket holdup one) and would like to see it but would prefer to spend 99p rather than 18 quid.
