4pm + my Internet brakes...

DB gains should be in your modem (try 192.168.100.1 in your web browser), and relate to the signal strength of your downstream and upstream data channels. When your internet is installed, your signal strength is adjusted so that it's not TOO HIGH or TOO LOW so that it stays within operational limits during peak / non-peak times. Over time this balance can be lost... so post your gains here if you manage to find them.

So from 5-12pm I cant browse the internet at all, and I think the parents just made a 12 month contract with Sky.

Any advice?

Hi KristianWaring

You are not alone as i have connect and also cant browse the internet from 4PM to 12:30AM. Its the worse service ever!

You may find this informative on what to do if you feel you are not getting the service you are paying for: http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-broadband-help/29586-unofficial-faq-sky-connect-users.html

I would ask sky when the date of your exchange will be updated and work out if its worth the wait.

Good luck. :)

I am also on the connect package since there is nothing else at my exchange, and i have also had this problem in the past.

They told me if you use more then 15% of your monthly 40gb usage in the first 10 days of the month. then BT will throttle you for 3-4 days after so that "its better for their customers".

Happend after downloading the patches for wow and when i bought TF2 on steam, speedtest.net showed me at 0.03mb dl from 5pm-midnight for around 4-5 days each time it happend, soon as it was past midnight i was back to my usual speeds.

It really does suck since there is 0 LLU bundles at my exchange. If you can be moved onto their LLU package it should be ok, or just move to BT infinity like your friend?

I downloaded a 2.2 gig file last night and now this is the outcome lol dial up anyone?

Gotta love Sky Connect!

Sky keep pestering me to go on there broadband and talk packages that won't happen. Happy with o2.

Is your exchange unbundled though? If so you can make a good deal with the phone. (If its unbundled you can pick and choose. Happy days.) If its not then stay well away.

sorry to hi-jack but try this for size,

on BT 50GB per month download limit, been over the amount every month for the last 5 months. yet i do nothing more than about 1-2 hrs bfbc2 4 nights a week and browse these forums. asked BT to look into this as there was no way i was using that amount, Answer.......we can't because of Data Protection Act, and that i'd need to go to a court of law to allow me access to downloads on MY account.

Apparently BT can't even look at my account and see what is downloading on it......

Yea right!!

Sky connect is stupidly expensive compared to the normal sky broadband as well

im on the 8mb package have downloaded a few gig a day in the past has been good service for last couple of years

AFAIK they are breaking data protection act by not giving you information on you they possess. They may ask for official confirmation from you in writing and they may charge you up to a max. of £10.00 for automated records or up to a max. £50 for manual or a combination of manual and automated records. Either you're being fobbed off or you spoke to someone who doesn't know the DPA.

I believe, that under the data protection act, you are able to request any data a company holds on you in the form of a letter and they like the guy above said will charge you. However, if you did send a letter off I'd make sure you send it via recorded mail :)

Most ISP's are ok for you to download outside of peak time; ring them and find out what they consider peak; usually 4-9 or 5-10 and just don't do it at those times
