To cut a very long story short, I need something a little larger to stuff my homeserver into. I couldn't care less about looks, and assuming I can bodge a few quiet 120mm fans in I'm not much bothered about the noise.
The current PSU and components do just fine, I'm just completely out of drive bays in the shell it's currently in.

To this end, I've been poking at some of the available 4u server cases on the usual auction site, & other similar places. 7 dedicate 3.5mm bays and a couple of convertible 5.5mm bays aren't really enough, but it's a lot better than the curent situation :)

Basically, I'm wondering if anyones tried to do a build in one of these before using standard components (Full ATX mobo, normal PSU), and whether theres anything else I should be thinking about?

I bought one from a maufacturer that just sells cases. This was one they made for themselves. RM 404-V2.2 Short 4u Rackmount (£80). With it being a short case, there was only enough space for a 5 1/4 and 4 hard drive slots. There was plenty of room in it, and you could always make more room by drilling your own holes. Which I do not need to do as I managed to get a 5th hard drive on the floor of the case.

As long as it is deigned to take them, I see no issues.
