What's the most modern decent 4x game? And is there anything on the horizon. Have I missed stuff, or is this sector pretty dead.

Sins of a Solar Empire was updated late last year, its pretty good but not the step forward some may have hoped. Still, I guess its the most recent, and still a great game if you have the time to devote to it.

whatever newer games there are they surely cannot beat moo and moo2. I also had star trek birth of the federation back in the day and wth mods is quite playable but has a bit of micromanagement
Distant Worlds is my favourite, loads of mods out there too. A little on the pricey side with the expansions but I much prefer it over the likes of sins.
