I was thinking about selling my team 2gb 4 4 4 10 set to buy a set of geil black dragon 4 x 1gb set.

Will be going in my p5b deluxe along with a q6600

Is this madness? Will 4x1gb work as well as my current memory to overclock?

Is this "quad channell" ram even compatable with my board?

Please help  :)

Quad-channel doesn't exist. It's Geils marketing speak for a four stick pack.

Is it the PC8500 Geil you're looking at, and what speed is your current Team?

sorry my bad :)

The geil I was looking at is the pc6400 stuff(the same as my team)

My current team mem is sitting at 800 mhz (2.8 ghz on my currant 6300 1-1)

Was thinkin to clock my q6600 when I get it to 3.2,and as I quite fancy a 4gb set was hopefull this geil set would help me do this?

I can't find the 4x1gb PC6400 kit anywhere, so I've no idea of how much it can be had for. I can only find the 5-5-5-15 2x2gb kit, which is £182 here at OcUK. The 4x1gb PC8500 kit is another £60.

If you want four 1gb sticks then take a look at the PC6400 Crucial Ballistix. Two 2x1gb kits can be had for ~£150-£160 and it will clock very well.

But do you *need* 4gb, bearing in mind that you need a x64 operating system to see more than ~3.25gb.

Cheers cob :)

I might look into gettin some more team stuff, but as you said do i really *need*it.
Was thinkin more for future, but the way I go through stuff,I might be on ddr3 by then lol

Upgrades are too addictive :)

They certainly are.

Unless you find games stuttering and/or an awful lot of hard drive access during gaming, you'll probably be fine with your current 2gb.
