i have a 5.1 speaker set for my pc; first off its been broken since day 1 in that the front L and R channels have never worked. However i just brought it up to uni to use as a 3.1 with the rear L&R as the front stereo in conjunction with the center and sub.

when i configure the speakers in vista all the speakers work when i click the "test" button after setting the speaker setup to 5.1

but aside from that I can't get any life out of the center or sub when doing anything else.

So i know that the cabling and connections are all fine because it works in the test panel its just that maybe WMP and everything else needs to be configured to use 5.1, i dont know.

help me please:( I'm at uni and I need music desperately!

It's the onboard one that came with my motherboard.

just to make everything seem even wierder, just started watching a dvd and thats working in 5.1:s

i just moved out of southend to go to uni in brighton, i miss it:(

Make sure you have the latest mobo sound drivers, also the sound control centre may have several settings, my XFi has a gaming mode and an entertainment mode, both can be set up seperately.
Im only in Southend at the weekends as i work 3 hours drive away, i'l be back this weekend to watch the glorious SUFC thrash Tranmere Rovers.:D
