Got my wonderful 5.1 speakers today, gave them a quick trial under 2003 server using the xp drivers. The rear speakers worked then, but upon switching to vista and configuring them as 5.1 speakers, no rear output.

Am I missing somthing basic or are the creative drivers just not capable of doing 5.1 under vista? if so this X-Fi XA and bugger off to kingdom come.

am afraid to say that the creative drivers are just buggy as hell under vista theres that and the fact that creative have disabled a lot of the features of xfi under vista to try and force people to wiat and get the xfi2 cards

Do you mean in games? If so you need to use Creative's Alchemy software to get surround sound for anything that uses DirectSound.

Game's bought on Steam are a little complicated to get running but it's possible.

I was doing the testing with HD movies and .ogg music files. I put the Alchemy software on when I first set up vista, but it resulted in it BSODing every boot up so I removed it.

Looks like it's either back to onboard I go, or back to XP.
