5.1 from DP965LT?

Any help, I'm not upto speed on soundcards but don't quite understand how you can have 5.1 onboard sound without an obvious connection?

It looks to me like that board supports 6.1 out via analogue only.

I just discovered what I think is a very neat little device called the "Sondigo Callisto" (easily found via google) which is a USB sound card with toslink (optical) output and I have purchased one to try out. It does DDLive and DTS:Connect/DTS:Neo as well as normal passthrough which is what you want for watching DVD's assuming your speaker system has a built in decoder (which it should as it as digital inputs). Might be worth a look at this Sound Card solution as its cheap as chips and seems to have a lot of features going for it.

That looks very interesting, have you tried it out yet?

I only need the 5.1 sound for a handfull R2 DVD's that won't play on my US Blu-ray player.

Unless you can source it cheaper than the 60 euro they are asking on the site your better off with the Sondigo. I havent tried mine yet as its still being shipped but my mate has one and cant praise it enough.

All you really need is a device capable of spdif passthrough.

I wasn't sure if the Callisto supported Vista 64 but it does so I'll pick one up.
