Hey guys, I've got Logitech X540 5.1 speakers, the sub/center share the same output if this makes any difference.

Anyway! Due to rearranging my room my rear speakers are in a terrible position so I'm waiting to have all 5 speakers in front of me. Surround never really worked properly anyway.

My speakers have a "matrix" function which I think unites all the speakers? It sometimes leaves the output sounding tinny and slightly distorted.

Are there any programs I can use to force the rear left and rear right to act as f-left and f-right?

Thanks, Mikey.

The center shares the connection with the Sub, I want help making my rear speakers output the same as my front.
I'm not going to replace my speakers, use a headset instead and I'm not removing them either.

Please can someone shed some light? Rather than giving me alternatives I've made clear I'm not going to do.

Thanks, Mikey.

Personally, I think it's a waste of time searching for something that will alter the rear channels to output the front audio through them.

By doing such a thing, you are effectively removing them, which isn't much different from just unplugging them.

I understand you do not wish to do that, but if there is no software that will allow you to alter the rear speakers output to front audio, then it would be better to remove them, than put up a tinny distorted sound.

Can't you just run a stereo splitter from source (Front out) and run both F/R from that?

That's a good idea. Something that didn't occur to me.

Marsman is one of the sound guru's on here that to me, seems to know his stuff. I agree with him as well.

Kind of you to say so.

I'm no guru, far from it. :p

I know some things, but there is much that I don't. There are certainly plenty of people that know a lot more than I do. I help if I can. :)

The Stereo splitter sounds like a very good idea :) Thanks guys.

Marsman I appreciate the advice, fancy recommending a decent splitter?

Also, whats the news on the "matrix" function?

The Matrix function, I believe, is there if someone connects the speakers to a single stereo output. It is there is upmix that stereo into 5.1. AFAIK, that's what it does.

It's probably a useful feature, but obviously, that is only a pseudo 5.1.
