Hello guys,

thanks for all your help so far.
right i'm currently using the Roccat Kave headset and a Xonar DS 7.1 card, so far i've noticed a better sound over the Realtek HD onboard chip, however being it's my first 5.1 experience i'm having a little trouble sorting out my levels.

Obviously I want to hear the sound moving around me but i'm having trouble getting it to sound natural. For those not familar with the Kave headset i have 4 sliders, Center/Front LR/Rear LR/Sub. last night i tried watching Star Wars III being a THX sound film i was surprised that i couldn't get a natural sound from the 5.1 experience.

if i turned up the rear channel i could here background noises in battle scenes, or i could here the humming of machines in quieter scenes. Problem is it was either unnoticable or over the top, being that i'm not sure what is the ideal.

mean while the sub channel is virtually un audible at max, i've decided (i'm at work now) that i will up the channel on the soundcard to boost the effect the slider has.

I think i've balanced the center and fronts nicely where the voices are slightly louder than the front so it's clear and audible.

Any help is appreciated in balancing the sub channel and the rears against the fronts.

I've switched to the Movie mode on the control over Game as it's producing a better sound to my ears.

Thanks,

Luke.

When i had my Kaves set up on the asus control center, i had the following settings.

I had all the sliders on the Kave control box on max. You could also try the virtual speaker shifter and bring them in closer. I don't have the kaves anymore unfortunately.
