On the road....
As the title, I've just bought the new DVD of the Floyd playing "The Dark Side of the Moon" live. Alas my Creative speakers are 2.1 :( spec me please the best sounding (musically) 5.1 speakers.

I was thinking of the Creative Inspire 5.1 P5800 Speakers - OEM (SP-043-CL)
£41.07 Inc.
I have an Audigy 2 Soundcard, and I'm looking to spend about £40 ish (cheapskate, I know. :o )

Thanks.

The gig was probably recorded in stereo you know, then they've done a dodgy upmix into 5.1. Hopefully they've included the stereo sountrack. Anyway, no speaker system costing £40 is going to do justice to any music, and PC speaker don't excell in music reproduction anyway, even the best ones.

I guess that's all you have to spend though. Headphones? For £40 you can get stereo headphones that will produce better quality sound than £200 PC speakers. Shocking but true. TBH all the PC speaker sets around £50 are going to be equally uninspiring. Maybe the Logitechs would beat Creative at that price though. I owned the X530 (£45 or so) and they're not too bad if you turn the bass down on the back of the sub a bit.

It's a great gig though, the light show is amazing and they perform the whole of DSOTM :)

Yes, naturally headphones at the same price point will produce superior sound as the components to make headphones are far cheaper (no amplifiers needed or large speaker drivers, enclosures). And, as it happens, for this live gig, headphones may sound better too as you will feel more immersed in the gig (it is probably an ambient stereo recording, and like fish99 said would be mixed up to 5.1. It should sound very "live" with headphones and stereo)
