5.1 Speakers - With Long Speaker cables

Logitech Z-5500

Cables are very long, although I haven't measured it. They are just ordinary copper wire so you can just cut the front speakers and solder it on to the back (if that made any sense). Awesome speakers too, 500W of power, 1?" sub!

Yeah I have the same recomendation if the cables arnt long enough you can change them as they are not soldered into the speakers they are connected via the normal clips that you get on most home stereos. As mentioned above if the wires are too short just cut the front wires down and use them to extent the length of the rears.

i'd say never buy pc sound setups you could just about get a seperates
system that will kick any plastic pc setup into touch i dont care about the logitech thx things they are pants compared to seperates.Even the £99 yamaha
cinema station sounds better than my mates logitech.
I'd get This anyday over any pc speaker setup it's only £100 too and uses the same chip found in yamaha's mid range recievers.

What Logitech sound system has your mate got?

That looks just as bad as PC Speakers, if it has Tweeters, sure it might sound better than Logitech setups, but i really dont think its beter than something like a Z5450 or Z5500, there not crap for the money at all, sure for that price you can buy a 2.0 setup, preety cheap one though, but its not good if someone wants 5.1 at a small budget.

That yamaha looks really tiny too with that control pod next to it.

http://www.yamaha-uk.com/cinema_station/index.cfm < that looks decent, still would but logitech over it, but i wont buy logitech anymore, i learnt my lesson and its time to move to real Hi-Fi stuff.

you dont know what your talking about.your mates logitech is not the z-5500 thx as you would not even think of posting that carp.
for 1 it doesnt support DTS 96/24
fair enough yamaha is a very good brand for home cinema receivers(ive owned a couple)but for £200,you can not beat the logitech for sound quality.

Erm that system is dts m8 and yes seperates beat logitech thx setups by miles.
I'm not saying that £100 yamaha beats a £200 logitech though just saying it's great quality at half the price.

If you want a 5.1 setup with digital-in etc cheaply get the Z5500s they are fantastic for the price and yes an audio buff might be able to tell the difference between them and an expensive set of 5.1s but are you ever going to have an expensive set to compare them within the near future?

If you want the highest quality sound then get separates but in the price range you are only going to be able to get stereo speakers.

I personally would only be able to tell the difference between the logitechs and a separates system if they were side by side but until I can afford a separates system the logitechs are fine.

the thread was talking about the logitech Z-5500THX and you said you would get this yamaha over ANY pc speaker set up.
of coarse seperates sound better, but for £200, you wont. ive been into hifi for at least 15 yrs and would never compare two products with a 100% price difference(£100v£200)
in front of me now ive got a cd/amp/speakers that cost £2500+,and 95% of the time are switched OFF , since buying the logitechs,..work that one out! :D
