I have an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro, and it has a plugin which came as part of the creative mediasource media player bundled with it that does dts neo:6 encoding. This means the music played with media source is intelligently upmixed to 5.1.

I'm wondering if there is a way to upmix everything to 5.1, for example internet radio such as pandora which i use a lot?

Clearly the card could do it so i think its just a software thing. I presume it would have to use either dts neo:6 or dolby prologic 2? Does this mean because of licensing no-one has made some free software to do it?

Seems like the right sort of thing, thanks.

Doesn't seem to work though, does it only work with stuff played from a media player?

You need to configure it to what you want to upsample it to. I don't use it myself, as I use Lexicon Logic-7 to scale up tracks, if I want to. Probably does a better job of it.

I think what i'm looking for is something that works with flash, which is what pandora uses. Its not in the compatibility tables so presumable this won't work with pandora?

Does this use the soundcard or only the cpu?

Is upmixing the correct term for this?

Thanks i'll have a read.

The easy solution is to get some new speakers with built in prologic 2 so everything that comes out the soundcard gets upmixed, but it seems silly when i already have a sound card that's perfectly capable of doing it...

Ah, you're probably right - I mostly use it for films played in media players.

Anyone else got any ideas of how this might be done?

Does x-fi have any options to do this?

Thanks
