hi all,

I'm looking at improving my cooling and have decided that I could probably get away with installing a 120mm or 140mm fan in the 5.25 drive bays, just wanted to find out if anyone has done this before if so how?

case is a CM HAF932

Regards,
Sam

Are the 5.25 bays vented on that case? I did the same on a coolermaster 690 and just used cable ties to hold the fan in place.

I've done the same on my current case (corsair 650D) and brought a scythe Kama bay but pretty sure they are not made anymore.

Edit*

Seem xigmatek make some nice little brackets to do this if your 5.25 covers are ventilated

yeah the bay fronts are vented and those brackets look good, just can't see a way of buying them

Appreciate these are out of stock at present, but this looks like the easiest way:

edit: corrected link

they look pretty decent, wish they'd give a cheaper option with no fan so you could get your own fan

Ive bodge mounted a fan behind some mesh 5.25 bay bezels using sewing elastic. Got one of those lian li units linked above in my second system, the fan in it is pretty poor though.

I have done it using cable ties too. No need to spend money on unneccessary brackets or cages.

Bottom was held by a piece of double sided tape.

tempted to bodge fit one like you have done there pasty, does it give any horrible vibration noises? or does the double sided tape prevent most of it

No vibration at all. I had another case but with a cable tie in each corner instead of the double sided tape on the bottom and that was also vibration free.

seems like it'll be the ghetto method then, time to go find a decent fan, and also measure the biggest size I can fit in there
