I've got a number of 5.25 floppies, which I want to copy to other media.

I've got a couple of 5.25 drives, but I'm unsure whether they will plug into the floppy connector on a modern motherboard.

Any ideas on how I should go about this?

No need to take the mick' that I'm old and fuzzy........

Thanks,

Michael

As long as you've got a floppy cable with the correct plug for the edge connector on the drive you'll be fine. Most modern BIOSes only have the option for 1 floppy so you may need to dispense with the 3.5" drive temporarily. Use the part of the cable after the twist and set the drive type appropriately in the BIOS and you should be away.

as RPStewart says, it should be possible with most of the motherboards (even the most modern).
You may need to hunt round for the correct floppy cable though, as from memory 5.25" drives tended to use a different connector to the 3.5" ones, and most modern motherboards probably don't have both connector types on the cables they supply (I'm fairly sure my past few Asus boards didn't).

Yeah, the 5.25 ones use(d) a card-edge connector similar to the ISA slots. Good luck finding one if you dont have one. I suggest the flea markets if you havent already.

Cant remember the last time i actually used a floppy . . .
