£5 Coins

Never even knew they existed....it's about time they got rid of 1p's & 2p's though! Australia don't have them and you certaintly don't miss them at all!

Australia has currency now? Wow, they have come a long way! :p

I got a £5 coin, but personally I'd much prefer them to go the other way and get smaller notes, coz everyone likes a wad of cash, even if it is just 1's or 2's, but no one likes a handful/pocketful of coinage, it's too damn heavy if u got a lot of it!

bring back £1 notes, and introduce £2 notes, do away with pound + 2 pound coins, just paper :D

I had one a few years ago, we thought it was fake because we'd never heard of a £5 coin, but some woman in Natwest told us it was a legal tender!

They should have the £1 note (they have them in Scotland no?).

I have a few commemorative coins in values ranging from £5-£10.

I hate coins, they jingle too much in your pockets and I don't have a purse (I'm a man I have a wallet).

I've got one.. damn I could sell it - thanks for making me remember it :)

edit..

is it legal tender? could I put it into my bank account?

I never knew there was a £5 coin, I have never seen one.

They're not a standard thing. They come out every now and then to commemorate something. So they're kind of a collectors item. Still valid legal tender though.

not sure on that one, we don't accept them at sainsburys, and i know a few other supermarkets don't (or at least the cashiers will have been told not to) accept them. we are just told to tell them to change it at their bank
