Hi Guys,

We are having to have a little office meet up for Christmas. One the cards is a night away from the girlfriends filled with festive food and LAN video gaming. We are looking for a game to play that has good co-op elements to it. The game can be online.

The following are must haves:
  • First Person Shooter
  • Work on Windows 7,8 and 10
  • Cost less than £20
  • Have a vs bots element to it.
  • Support 5 players
  • Fairly easy pick up and play

The following are nice to haves:
  • A co-op campaign rather than co-op modes
  • More action than exploring
  • Pretty graphics
  • LAN support

The following have been short-listed:
  • Rainbow 6: Siege
  • CS:S

L4D and L4D2 with 8 player mod have sadly been discounted which is annoying as it would have been perfect.

Anyone got any ideas?

Does Serious Sam support 5 players? May be worth a look. Pretty much fulfils every category if so

Edit: Beaten like the unwanted ginger stepchild I am :(

Killing Floor?

THIS!

Great fun. Also try Contagion on Steam thats fun as well as it is coop but if you die you can be a zombie in the same game and try and stop your friends. Played it at LANS many times and results in hilarity.

Looks alright too.

How come left for dead has been discounted?

four player coop only?

Insurgency looks like what we are looking for. The mode that interests me the most is Checkpoint, what is this like, any good?

L4D was discounted as one of the guys has played it before and found the "mindless shooting" to be boring after 10 minutes.

Not sure how many players the borderlands game top out at. If 4 is the max then obviously not, otherwise, they're kind fun/funny.

Bah, I checked, borderlands is 4 players max, shame.

You COULD consider planetside 2 as 5 of you would be quite nice, different guys take different upgrades. It's easy to loose each other if stuck in a silly big fight though (100+ people in a firefight isn't even remotely uncommon).

Insurgency ticks all those boxes I believe.
Rainbow Six: Siege is worth a look, that does have a co-op element vs AI (and the multiplayer is also good fun as a tactical co-op experience I am told).
Don't discount Left 4 Dead and it's sequel. I understand thoroughly what your mate means, but with the mods to allow more players, and other mods to spice it up (and the obvious "crank the difficulty up") it's still a very good game to play with mates!
Although not FPS, Trackmania is a good laugh I find for some quick racing action.
Again, not against AI exactly, but Team Fortress 2 is great fun with a group of you, as is (as previously mentioned) Planetside 2.

Arma 2 Dayz overpoch on a server with plenty of missions. Pick a server and try and contact the admins to see if they will help you out. I'm sure you would find some that would get you set up with gear, transport etc to make it easier

I'd say Arma 3 exile but you are likely to be killed on sight too much for it to be fun.

EDIT: Fails on the pretty graphics though

Battlefield 1942 with desert combat.
Battlefield 2 with all 64 mod. Allows 64 player maps on singleplayer. Which others can connect to via local ip.
