Hi Guys,

Need an Awesome Gaming PC!

I need some help putting together A PC. I will award £5 to the winning spec! I know its a silly game but I want some quality advice!

I've got a budget of around £1,000.

Was looking at;

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-108-OK&groupid=43&catid=1270&subcat=&name="Ultima%20OC%20HD%204870%20X2"%20Intel%20Core%202%20Quad%20Q6600%202.40GHz%20@%20QX6950+%203.00GHz%20Dual%20Core%20DDR2%20System

Is the above system any good or should I build it myself and save the money?

But can probably build it myself so after;

A Decent CPU
Silent (important) and cool case
PSU and cooler
A Decent motherboard
Seriously Awesome graphics card (or two?)
4gb of good ram
fast hdd doesn't need to be too big as i don't store much

Thanks :) Will paypal £5 for winning/ordered spec :D sweet :)

My PC is in your hands :)

here is my offering:

though i was going to put down a tuniq tower for cpu cooler but they are out of stock.

A Decent CPU :

cpu

i see quite a few suggesting going for quad cores, the majority of games don’t support quad cores!
so for a fast gaming rig a faster duel core is the only real choice better.
the above cpu can be oced easily to 4ghz on air.
which will be easy using this cooler noctua don’t make pretty things, but they are damn cool & quiet.

silent (important) and cool case :

case

this case is without a doubt one of if not the quietest pc cases commercially available.

as shown in this review & also in the overall rankings here.

The only quieter case is the Zalman & I have been unable to find any retailers anywhere for it & would most likely be all your budget :D

PSU and cooler :

Seen a lot of corsairs being advised but if you want the best there is only one name. Who do both ATI & NVIDIA turn to for there test rigs? : PCP&C

A Decent motherboard :

I will let this Motherboardspeak for itself :D

Seriously Awesome graphics card (or two?) :

Well this graphics Card is not only awesome but there’s 2 of it :p

4870 x2 I have chosen the Asus as they always have the best accessories & extras as well as the longest warranty. The Asus version always sells out for those reasons.

4gb of good ram :

People have been advising the cheaper ram with no heat sinks !
This stuff is lighting fast & damn cool Ram

fast hdd doesn't need to be too big as i don't store much :

With games these days being 5gb-15gb & fraps eating gb's alive small hard drives aren’t an option. This drive offers great speed & value for money, The raptors may be fast but on you budget simply aren’t worth getting over a faster cpu/gpu.

Might buy myself this spec tbh :D

Subtotal £849.92

Put your wallet away people will give opinion for free.
You need to be more specific in exactly what you need.
Do you need a monitor and operating system for example ?

Why pay any more than this?

You've got Crossfire 4850s which will handle anything. You mentioned that silence was crucial so 4870X2s are out of the question if you want a nice aftermarket quiet cooler. Stick the Arctic S1s on the graphics cards and enjoy silence.

Yate Loon fans are cheap and quiet. 5V mod them for ultimate silence.

The CPU should clock close to 4GHz giving you easily enough for anything really.
