Whats a good upgrade from 3870x2?

Intel Q6600 Quad @ 3.2
Gigabyte GA-X38-DS4 Intel X38 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
OCZ SLI-Ready Edition 4GB 1066MHz Dual Channel
Antec 1000W PSU

5870 if you want to crossfire later, 470 if you don't (plus a gelid icy vision if you want it to be quiet)

^^ I would suggest a Gigabyte/MSI GTX 460 over the 470 as it runs cooler and all you need to do is stick it in and go. Wont need to worry about temps being to high as with the 470 which will probably run hotter.

Then also the 5870 is quite expencive anyhow it all depends on your budget.

£400 and also I am running a stock cpu cooler so whats a good looking cpu cooler which performs well so my window can look nice

how much is ur total budget overall? to spend on everything?

You could probably get a 5870 tbh and a Noctua Dh14 or what ever cooler someone else correct my mistake in giving the exact name of the cooler.

I've got a 2.5k budget but i'm planning on making a complete new build soon just waiting for the new cpu's to come out so i'm just making use of my 5 year old pc.

If you're waiting for the CPUs you might as well wait for ATi's 6000 series coming out later this year.
