Hi

So I built myself a PC just over 5 years ago now and surprisingly its still working! Looking at upgrading some of the components and thinking around the £400/£500 mark for the upgrades. I use the PC for gaming so thinking of upgrading the CPU and GPU to start with and then maybe next year go for a new monitor (separate budget) to maybe try some 4k gaming so ideally want to future proof it. I currently have a 1080p 140hz monitor and my current spec is as follows.

- AMD Ryzen 5 - 2600
- Radeon RX Vega GPU
- MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon Motherboard
- Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C16 3000MHz Dual Channel Kit
-Antec HCG Gold 650W 80 Plus Gold Modular Power Supply

Looking at where best to spend the money and at the time of building the PC over 5 years ago I am hoping the motherboard, power supply and RAM is still good enough if I upgrade the CPU and GPU. Was looking along the lines of a Ryzen 7 5700x and Radeon RX 7600 XT?

Thanks

7600 XT is really a 1080p card. Yes, it can do 1440p with FSR, but despite the 16GB of VRAM it is not very performant.

RX 7700 XT suggested above would be decent for 1440p and 4K is possible with upscaling, especially in older games.

Ideally though, 4K would be best with something like a 7900 XT and that would eat your entire budget with nothing left for the CPU.

1440p high refresh rate is where the pc gaming sweet spot is, and these monitors can also be had on the cheap (£150-200)
I wouldn't be bothered with 4k gaming. High refresh rate is a better QOL than 4k.
