50% Game pass increase incoming!

it'll get to the point where it's not worth buying for specific games which is probably what a lot of people do.
they will just wait for a sale on steam or somewhere instead.

MS need to realise when it comes to pc gamers they are stealing crumbs from the table and all they really offer is value, which they wont really anymore

Just found 3 months for £33 on shopto so I bought a few of those to top myself up until Feb 2027. I will be damned if I will renew for £23 a month after though.

My whole family uses it so I really want to keep it going and I will play horizon 6 next year so its worth it for now

Just did the same, stacked 3 months for £33 so now run til Jan 2027.

Given how few games I play, when mine is up next July, I suspect I’ll just revert to waiting for sales and buying them.

Same, mine expires in Feb.

I'm done with the whole subscription model for everything. Cheaper to buy what you want to play.

Watch them start bringing in ads on the basic subscription just like the streaming services.

Pretty much already at that point. For example, some Xbox loyalists have been crowing for months about GP receiving Silksong, Blue Prince and E33 day one, but the fact is you could buy all these games off key sites right now for slightly less than 2 months of GPU.

Some sources are already reporting this is precisely what MS have in store. A price hike, with ads incorporated ... lovely !

My subscription hasn't updated with the new price yet even though I'm currently paying monthly.

I want to just cancel it in protest, but my son plays a lot of Game Pass games on Xbox, so I may just go down to one of the lower tiers.

Get 3 months ShopTo for £33, so thats £11 a month, half the price. You can stack them too I think.

£13 a month still isn't bad for GP only if you're just using PC one. I assume everybody stopped buying treats and stuff they like that have gone up more than a couple of quid in the last few years

They've also pretty much killed MS Rewards for gamepass now. Looks like it's more than doubled in cost that route. Bit **** to be honest. I don't know if I'll bother renewing when mine comes to an end next July.

Classic greedy suits it looks like, not only have they ramped up the price, but you can see the middle tier will be the target of all the FOMO unless I'm misunderstanding it.

Ultimate to get so many titles per year at day one access, premium gets them within a year? That could be a few big releases a year that people who want to play day one will miss/upgrade or purchase separately for.

there was a leak (I think last year) about Xbox gamepass and the numbers. From memory it wasn’t profitable and they were behind on their player count requirement to make it profitable.

I don’t think gamepass could have ever stayed as it was. The maths just doesn’t make sense. Even with these new prices it still doesn’t make sense both for MS and for the gamer.

Not sure that's true...everything I have read says it's profitable and has posted record revenues this year of $5 billion.

I've historically done the 2/3 years of the old Xbox Gold sub and then added the Game Pass Ultimate to convert - so I've still got about 14 months of that deal left.

After that, unless something similar is available, it will be bye-bye subscription for me!

Have never subscribed, apart from the free months that you got as a trial or as part of a purchase. I prefer to own the games I play. And I have no FOMO about missing new releases.

EDIT: Actually apologies, I did win a 12 month subscription at one stage and I converted that to Game Pass Ultimate for very little when they were doing that deal. Haven't missed it since it expired.
