I'm looking for a 4K IPS TV (49/50") for my living room, due to the better viewing angles and sitting offset.

However, I'm struggling to find which ones are IPS panels? No one seems to have an option to sort by type, and Googling seems to suggest various manufacturers do IPS, but it depends on size and model year, even to the point where visiting the manufacturers site doesn't list if its IPS or VA/TN.

OLED isn't an option, I'm only looking to spend £500 but struggling to locate find one suitable?

Thanks both. Not exactly easy to find out which is which, but identified these two:

Panasonic TX-49FX600B
LG 49UK5400PFL

Both IPS, both approx £500. It seems both are available at Currys, so I'll pop down and have a look :)

Surprised at the Panasonic being IPS last two I've had were VA (or MVA).

On another note just found out the HDR10+ firmware was released 28/08 for 2018+ models. Need to check my TV for the firmware update.

Please share your findings! I'm also interested in the Panny, but won't get to go to a showroom for a while.

Unfortunately they didn't have the Panny in stock either in 49 or 55" near me. Had a look at the LG, seems good, viewing angles are impressive too. Always difficult in large stores under their lights and with their crappy setups however. TBH unless there was some major feature, I'm struggling to justify the extra £80-£100 for the Panasonic, it's more than I'm a fan of the brand...but that money could go towards some decent audio.

Hmm..

I'm in the same situation to yourself I'm going for LG was looking at Sony can't remember think it was xf8505bu people seem to review it ok but then you look at expert reviews and says it's not very good due to the OS and poor remote and at 800 has put me off. The 9 series is rated highly but at a grand it's not something I'd like to spend on LCD I'm going to go QLED or OLED but going to wait few years until tech and things move on about. So looking at LG 8100 which is 749
