350gb hd

slient knight 2 cpu cooler

8800 gt

any advice welcome :)

since you have an SLI mobo, if you find the performance not good enough you can always pick up a cheap 2nd hand 8800GT for peanuts now.

The performance of two 8800GT's in SLI is quite tasty at that res.

yes it is its the th50pz80b

Ooops - we stand corrected. :o

Depending on what you're doing with your rig, you could configure your system to run fine at 1080 res. If you want all the IQ on, however, you'll need to think hard about upgrading it.

Have a look at any benchmark site for comparisons between graphics cards at 1920x1200 and you will find the answers you seek.

You did say it was the PX80 though which is 1366x768 ;)

Depends how you are connecting it though, if its through hdmi, and you want the best, then yeh, upgrade the card, if you connect it through VGA, then you will still only get 1366x768 in which case the 8800GT will be fine.

On my TH42PZ85, games look just as good at 1366x768 on vga as they do at 1920x1080 on HDMI, from the distance you sit on the couch at, you would be hard pushed to see the benefit in a game.

A lot of games run fine on the 8800GT, at 1920x1200 mine handles TF2, CoD4, Mass Effect and so on very smoothly maxed out.

Crysis however... ;)

That's the kicker, isn't it? But then, even a brutally overclocked Core2 with triple GTX280s only just lifts the minimum FPS above 30 on Very High quality settings.

Stick with your 8800GT and see how it copes. There is little point going for a speculative upgrade only to find out it makes very little difference.
