I'm looking to get a pc to replace my laptop as it is starting to get a bit slow for newer software and stuff.

I only really play minecraft and some older titles on my laptop but if it could play newer titles that would be awesome. I also do a bit of photo editing / creation but its not that big an issue for me, apart from playing games I'll have to use it for school work (word processing and possibly a bit of CAD but nothing too severe)

I don't mind having to leave out maybe the gpu now and just use the igpu until I can afford a decent one.

Thanks
AL

Yeah I'm going to use windows 8 64bit previews until its released.

A touch over I know however ive saved a bit on the case and memory and cpu as you wont notice that much difference and used the extra to get a good cooler for a bit of overclocking and the hybrid drive should give better loading performance than a everyday mechanical. The oem cpu cause if overclocking the extra warranty is irrelevant anyway

You will notice the difference in the CPU's in a few years time when Sandy Bridges aren't cutting it anymore :p

You could argue that with the current ivys in a few years time, the ivys didnt actually bring that much more to the table, remember when the q6600's were cutting edge? oh wait that was only a few years ago too lol

Give the budget here your hardly going to be future proofing for 4-5 years of top end gaming anyway

Are any of those 3 above any good?

You can compare various CPU against each other with This

Use the i3 2100 as the 2120 isnt featured to hopefully give you an understanding of how much faster the i3 is against older chips.
