£500-£600 to upgrade pc

Hi, I need to upgrade my parents pc as it's getting a little long in the tooth and struggles to run most games for my dad. Looking to re-use the case, monitor, keyboard and mouse so it's just the internals I need.

My dad mainly uses it to play COD, although I'm trying to get him into Civ.

Any advice please?

What's the spec of the PC? What case is it?

It's an oldish core 2 duo (?) setup with 4gb ram and a 512mb graphics card. The case is an old coolermaster.

What motherboard can the case take, standard ATX or is it a smaller Micro-ATX.
RAM = DDR2?

The case can take a standard ATX board. No idea what the ram is off hand, but DDR2 sounds about right. Saying that, I was hoping to replace the ram for something faster.
