I prefer the 460 to the 6850. It also adds cuda support. I didn't add an aftermarket cooler as you can get to 4ghz on the stock heatsink anyway. If he wants one it would make a nice gift for someone to buy :)

The case has USB3 ports, PSU has enough juice to accept higher rated GPUs should he want to upgrade later. My HDD is slightly faster than Beejs....his is still a nice budget spec though.

Thankyou all very much for the input i think i will wait for the end of the month to see if prices drop etc

The Z77 motherboard how different are they from the Z68 is it something that i should consider upgrading in my pc??

No problem :) Good idea to wait, he might be able to get a cheaper i5 2500K then or a new Ivy Bridge i5 instead!

Z77 is the chipset released for ivy bridge. Differences include native USB3 ports, and PCIe Gen3 as standard [with an ivy bridge CPU]. If you've got a Z68 board, a new Z77 board isn't worth the cost to upgrade

Don't forget lucid MVP which increases FPS in games, this isnt on the Z68 mobos :)

sweet well i will wait for my own upgrade prob another year but i will wait till the end of the month to get my friends pc together

thanks once again
