Hi all,

I'm being given £475 a month for a car which I'm planning on using towards getting a car on lease hire so that all the maintenance, servicing etc is taken care of and I effectively get a new car every 3 years.

I've looked at BMWs site and they do this as well as contract hire but for lease hire they want a final lump sum payment at the end of the term which I want to avoid.

Just wondering if anyone knew of a BMW specific leasehire provider or recommend a good one.

Not sure what car to get. With Diesel being so expensive now I've worked out that buying a new diesel would mean my mileage would have to reach 46000 a year before I started breaking even. This isnt going to happen so mileage limits associated with contract / lease hire is not really an issue but I like the way diesels drive.

Anyhoo, I shall await some responses. Ta muchos. :)

I'm not all that clued up on leasing companies, but this place seems to be ok, was looking at it a couple nights ago...but then I haven't looked elsewhere.* You pay an initial lump sum, and then x amount over 2 or 3 years. :)

They seem quite reasonable

I agree, the whole car leasing or financing option just seems to be far too full of complicated offers.

Is there anywhere you can actually speak to a person who can help you decide what is best for you?

Plus VAT @ 17.5%
Plus any additional millage over 10K

He's being given £475 a month, so making up the extra £130 a month might not be impossible. Also you might not have seen the ;) on the end of my post, indicating I maybe wasn't being WHOLLY SERIOUS.

If you're doing >10k a year I wouldn't be in a Cayman!

I'm well aware of how leasing works btw - am leasing a car myself.

when I calculate how much I have to spend on a car I count my allowance , amap credit and the amount I save on tax by not having a company car

Number of questions really.

1) I assume the allowance is on top of your wage, so is tax deductable.
2) Do you know how many miles you plan to do per year, its a big part of the cost
3) Most of the numbers quoted on the web will be subject to VAT
4) Most of the numbers quoted on the web will NOT include maintenance

My advice is do your research, have a nose around the web for the best deals, typing "car leasing" into Google will give you loads of choices to review. Find the best deal you can, then take it to your local BMW dealer an make it clear you will do a deal today if they can match the package you have been quoted. Walking into any car dealer and saying I want to lease, PCP, finance a car is the wrong thing to do. Walking in with I have X to spend is even worse.

Do the reserch, pick up a copy of What Car as its useful to get a feel for the options and then push hard. BMW dealer will pull your pants down and then charge you to pull them back up again if you walk into a dealer expecting them to offer advice or guide you in the right direction. To them you would be the ideal punter in that situation. Go in with all your facts and push them hard for a deal, and walk away if they can't match it.

very true, don't ever give them your amoung to spend rather than telling them the car you want ot they will have your pants down

for me the figures woule be as follows

I get £462 a month gross so £272 net

12k business miles a year ( on a 16p/mile fuel allowance ) = £86 per month amap credit

if I had a company car then ( for example ) a £22k car with 30% CO2 tax band = £225 a month cost

so £272 + £86 + £225 = £583 which is the amount I have to spend a month on a car
