I paid £635 for an onkyo 876 last week.
Who cars that its ugly its audio equipment I look at my tv not my amp![]()

I don't think anyone cares what it looks like or what you paid for it. The initial thread is as listed. Since when is £635 less than £500.
There are criteria on the table and whilst opinion is good is is reasonable to ask to be constructive and not flame.
Does your Amplifier suggestion fall into the sub £500 bracket? No.
Did you tell the initial thread creator what was in your opinion the reason for your purchase? No.
Did you give a valid reason for paying that much for the Amplifier? No
It is easy to get carried away when someone makes a comment about your setup but don't you think in these circumstances that they have a point.
I am not criticising your setup and you most probably enjoy it, but that is the point of the forum to tell people what you enjoy about your setup which you find is unique to you and in the correct circumstances to give a valid opinion on the forum when apropriate.
I may be Biased in some ways but I have a Yamaha DSP-AX563 and a DSP763. And I give my valid experienced opinions based on those subjects and previous systems. You sound a bit like a spoilt child who cannot have his own way.

I don't mean to enflame or anger anyone let's make that plain. I just read a Thread and I notice that the person whom has starte it begun by saying he needed an AV Amp for under £500 and later in the thread he was also looking to perhaps upgrade his PC sound as well.
With the Yamaha, Onkyo and Denon going at around £300 he could then think about the sort of extra's he would like for his PC.
Just following logic.
Its a bit like one of those salesmen that always gets up your nose. He asks you how much you have got to spend and they always suggest something that is out of your price range.
P.S. If anyone takes offence please disregard.

To be fair there isn't much at £500.
£300 is you Yam 763s, Onkyo 606s and Denon 1909s.
Then you get to 600-700 as the next step. There isn't really a £500 range.

Ive seen the Yammy 863 at £489, i was considering that amp myself but went for the Denon AVR1909 as it suits my needs perfectly and sounds superb.
