Hi there looking to build my friend a £500 gaming pc. Dont have a clue what parts etc. also would you get decent performance in latest games with this budget how would it be compared to current gen consoles

There is a big difference between an i3 and an i5 dependant on game though. Unless game uses more than 2 threads then there wont be a huge difference unless you using an overclock 3570K cpu which will offer higher IPC.

On modern games like BF3 then the difference is greatly amplified because of how the game is coded.

However the majority of games will hit GPU problems before CPU.

That is a very good build for the price. That 7870 is a bargain.

Like bacon? Said there is a fair difference between the i3 and i5 but its not worth sacrificing a graphics card for it, as thatd be the only way you can afford it.

I personally would take bacons build as is, though if you want to save a bit of money you could use a H77 motherboard. The h77's don't enable multiplier overc locking. If you think your mate won't over lock it should bring it into budget.

Why thank you ;)

I completley forgot about H77, considering within the last few weeks the Z77's have been cheaper than the H77's.
That said the only cheaper ones are Asrock ones :( Bar a MSI one but then its only £5 dif.
