£500 budget advice please

Hi all,

Seeing that I have been out of the game for a bit I was hoping for some friendly advice, I have a budget of £500 to spend on a MOBO/PSU/GPU/CPU + cooler and RAM


I'm basically looking to cannibalise my older system for the optical drive, chenbro gaming bomb case, keyboard, monitor and HDD (Sata)

I generally want to use this for gaming and photoshop, Any help is appreciated

mickyflinn has made a good spec, the only thing I would want to change is perhaps the CPU.

Do you really need 8 cores?

Potentially would want 16GB of RAM and maybe an SSD (if you can get the funds)

I guess in terms of future proofing is 4 core ok? although in potentially adding an SSD I can see the benefit of this, faster bootload etc..:S

The next AMD Piledriver down the list is actually a 6-core. With a bit of overclocking the difference will be lessened.
