£500 build for gaming?

Hi all,
Posting for a mate who's account isnt being verified for some reason - so I don't have all the details - but hoping someone can help.

He has £500 for a new gaming PC - Obviously not expecting much more than 1080p medium settings with a respectable framerate.

No peripherals, just the tower (and no OS).
No preferences to brands (AMD vs Intel vs nvidia etc)

the cheaper motherboards from the H81 range were out of stock and i have the 4160 i3 and its brilliant and with the 4170 only one available its the ideal choice.


or from AMD youd be looking at something like this unless you went for the top end APU.

Yeah in all honesty the one really interesting thing with kaby lake is the new Pentium with hyperthreading.
