£500 For New Laptop – Recommendations?

Hi guys,

Just sold my trusty, 4 year old, Time laptop on the Bay and I’m now in the market for a new one

In total I’ve got about £600 to play with, but I really only want to spend about £500, and then there’s money left over for accessories etc.

I need it for general purpose usage; good battery life etc would also be nice and wireless

So what brands/models should I be looking at? I would have stuck with Time, as my laptop was faultless from them in the 4 years I used it, but they don’t exist anymore do they???

What about Acer as a brand? Some of their specs are mad, and they're prices are great :eek:

Any comments/opinions?

I just got myself an acer aspire laptop for just under £500.

AMD Mobile Sempron 3200+ 1.6 GHz
1024mb DDR II SDRAM ( 2 x 512 MB )
100 GB HDD - 5400 rpm
DVDRW
15.4" TFT active matrix 1280 x 800 ( WXGA )
Acer InviLink 802.11b/g
1.3megapixel built in camera
SiS M760GX Graphics card (got a feeling that its ****, but oh well)

Any other brand and your looking at £1000+ for that spec.
